5 - Cup Rules

  • 5.1 - During cup events, 3 - Season Rules do not apply. All rules related to cups are included on this page.
  • 5.2 - Cup divisions are split up depending on total number of signups and skill rankings of teams.
    • 5.2.1 - Standard divisions may be split up even more to accommodate even larger amounts of teams. These divisions will receive an A, B, C, etc. following their standard names.
    Division Names from High to Low are as follows:

    Platinum
    Gold
    Silver
    Steel
    Iron

  • 5.3 - Teams are placed on each cups start, regardless of any previous cups placement and ranking.

    This can mean a team that wins a division in the previous cup could end up staying in the same division if enough better teams sign up.

  • 5.4 - Day 1 matches take place in a 4-8 team, swiss style format. Each team is expected to compete in 3 matches on the first day. Day 2 matches have all teams compete in a single elimination bracket.
  • 5.5 - Day 2, with the exception of the final match, are played BO1.
    Teams select maps as follows, with Team A being the upper seeded team:
    1. Team A removes one map.
    2. Team B picks one map; Team A chooses the starting side.
  • 5.6 - Final matches are played on BO3 maps.
    Teams select maps as follows, with Team A being the upper seeded team:
    1. Team A picks one map; Team B chooses the starting side.
    2. Team B picks one map; Team A chooses the starting side.
    3. Team B picks the remaining map; Team A chooses the starting side.
  • 5.7 - Teams will receive a participant medal alongside a placement medal if their team comes in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. The medals will also have their specific division listed on the medal.
  • 5.8 - Day 1 matches are given time breaking methods for placements.
    If teams are tied on match wins, tie breaking methods are used as follows:

    Tie Break #1 - Score Difference.
    Tie Break #2 - Direct Encounter.
    Tie Break #3 - Median-Buchholz System.
    Tie Break #4 - Round Wins.
